For the second formal bullfight, La Petatera will host rejoneador Andy Cartagena from Alicante, alongside bullfighters Juan Pablo Sánchez, Antonio Ferrera from Extremadura, and Antonio Magaña, who will receive his alternative as a matador that day. This event will take place on Tuesday, February 18.

Accompanied by the Director of the Charro and Bullfighting Festivities Institute, Petronilo Vázquez, and the City Hall Secretary, Lizet Rodríguez, Mayor Tey Gutiérrez mentioned that bulls from three prestigious **ranches—Marrón, Campo Caldera, and Campo Hermoso—**will be featured in the fights on both dates.

“I am confident that when the trumpets and drums sound, we will witness afternoons of bullfighting artistry, strength, and bravery. These events will be filled with emotions that only great bullfighters can bring to life. Congratulations and good luck to all participants,” said the Mayor of Villa de Álvarez.

In the presence of business leaders, bullfighting enthusiasts, former municipal presidents, charros, and cattle breeders, Mayor Tey Gutiérrez paid homage to the legacy and passion of Roberto Bravo Flores, the late Director of the Charro and Bullfighting Festivities Institute, who passed away at the end of 2024.

Bullfighter Paola San Román expressed her excitement, stating that La Petatera is one of the few bullrings she had yet to perform in. She hopes to inspire the bullfighting audience of Villa de Álvarez and achieve a major victory.

Meanwhile, Antonio Magaña shared his excitement about February 18, describing it as the most important day of his life. “Taking my alternative as a matador in La Petatera, a bullring that represents respect and tradition, is a dream come true,” said Magaña, who previously performed there as a novillero in 2019.
