Candelaria Bullfight 2025 Announced in Salvatierra

During a press conference held this Monday in Salvatierra, Guanajuato, the Virgin of Candelaria Fair 2025 was officially announced. This event celebrates the 381st anniversary of Salvatierra’s founding, a city located in the Valle de Guatzindeo and designated as a “Magic Town” since 2012. The traditional Candelaria Bullfight will take place on Sunday, February 2, at 4:00 PM in the iconic “La Macarena” Bullring. The lineup features three prominent matadors: José Mauricio Sergio Flores Francisco Martínez   These bullfighters will face bulls from the renowned Xalmonto Livestock, identified by its sky-blue and gold flag. Tickets for this major bullfighting event are priced at 400 pesos for all seating areas, promising a unique experience as part of one of the region’s most cherished celebrations.

The Bullfighting Poster for the Villa Festivities 2025 was unveiled by Mayor Tey Gutiérrez Andrade, alongside bullfighters Paola San Román, Antonio Magaña, and bullfighting entrepreneur Arturo Díaz Pérez, also known as “El Coyo.” This marks the announcement of the 168th Edition of the Charro and Bullfighting Festivities of Villa de Álvarez.     The Bullfighting Poster features renowned matadors Uriel Moreno, ‘El Zapata,’ Paola San Román, and Paco Ureña, as well as rejoneador Guillermo Hermoso, all set to perform on Tuesday, February 11, during the first formal bullfight.     For the second formal bullfight, La Petatera will host rejoneador Andy Cartagena from Alicante, alongside bullfighters Juan Pablo Sánchez, Antonio Ferrera from Extremadura, and Antonio Magaña, who will receive his alternative as a matador that day. This event will take place on Tuesday, February 18. Accompanied by the Director of the Charro and Bullfighting Festivities Institute, Petronilo Vázquez, and the City Hall Secretary, Lizet Rodríguez, Mayor Tey Gutiérrez mentioned that bulls from three prestigious **ranches—Marrón, Campo Caldera, and Campo Hermoso—**will be featured in the fights on both dates. “I am confident that when the trumpets and drums sound, we will witness afternoons of bullfighting artistry, strength, and bravery. These events will be filled with emotions that only great bullfighters can bring to life. Congratulations and good luck to all participants,” said the Mayor of Villa de Álvarez. In the presence of business leaders, bullfighting enthusiasts, former municipal presidents, charros, and cattle breeders, Mayor Tey Gutiérrez paid homage to the legacy and passion of Roberto Bravo Flores, the late Director of the Charro and Bullfighting Festivities Institute, who passed away at the end of 2024. Bullfighter Paola San Román expressed her excitement, stating that La Petatera is one of the few bullrings she had yet to perform in. She hopes to inspire the bullfighting audience of Villa de Álvarez and achieve a major victory. Meanwhile, Antonio Magaña shared his excitement about February 18, describing it as the most important day of his life. “Taking my alternative as a matador in La Petatera, a bullring that represents respect and tradition, is a dream come true,” said Magaña, who previously performed there as a novillero in 2019.

The Ruedo Tres company unveiled the lineup for the New Year’s Bullfight at the Plaza Alejandra in Durango, during a press conference. The event features Fermín Rivera, Antonio García «El Chihuahua», and novice bullfighter Eduardo Neyra, representing his hometown. All will face bulls from the Fermín Rivera Ranch. Present at the announcement were Antonio García «El Chihuahua», Eduardo Neyra, and Óskar Ruizesparza, representing Ruedo Tres. Ticket prices range from 1,200 pesos for First Row Shadow Barrera seats to 300 pesos for General Sun. Children under 10, accompanied by an adult, can enter general sections for free. Tickets will be available at the plaza’s box office starting Tuesday, December 17, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

He will perform alongside Luis Miguel Ramírez, Arturo Cartagena, and apprentice bullfighter Cristian Restrepo, facing seven bulls from Paispampa Ranch. After this international commitment, the Mexican novillero will return to his home country to perform on Wednesday, January 1, at the Monumental Bullring Rodolfo Rodríguez «El Pana» in Apizaco. Uriangato’s Christmas Bullfight features Emiliano Gamero and top bullfighters on December 25.

Ruedo Tres brings bullfighting back to the San Miguel Bullring in Uriangato, where the traditional Christmas Bullfight will take place on Wednesday, December 25. The lineup features rejoneador Emiliano Gamero, Juan Pablo Sánchez, and Francisco Martínez, who will face bulls from Los Cues starting at 4:30 PM. With the presence of Uriangato Mayor Juan Carlos Martínez Calderón, the event was announced by Alonso Ortega, representing the organizing company. This marks the final bullfighting event of the year. Ticket prices are set at 1,200 pesos for front-row seats, 450 pesos for General Seating, and 150 pesos for children. Tickets will be available on Boletea.com, at Pastelería D’Yuri (Jardín Independencia 4, downtown Uriangato), and at the bullring’s ticket offices on the day of the event.

The event will take place on December 31, 2024, at 4:30 PM and will feature bulls from Marrón and El Vergel, along with performances by toreros Uriel Moreno «El Zapata», Guillermo Hermoso de Mendoza, and Juan Pedro Llaguno. The company Toros Yucatan has announced the poster for the Christmas Bullfight to be held on Wednesday, December 25, at 4:30 p.m., in the traditional bullring of the town of Espita, Yucatan, on the occasion of its fair and patron saint festivities in honor of the Holy Child God. It will be a mixed event featuring rejoneador Jorge Hernández Gárate and Román, who will fight a Barralva bullfight. The cost of the tickets for adults will be 400, in presale 350; while children will pay 350 and in presale 300 pesos.

Villa Hidalgo presents its bullfighting poster

The company Luces Producciones, directed by retired matador Javier Reynoso, presented the poster for the bullfight in honor of the Virgin of Guadalupe, to be held next Sunday, January 26, in the Rafael Rodriguez portable bullring that will be installed in the municipality of Villa Hidalgo, Jalisco.   The line-up includes Juan Pablo Sanchez, Fermin Espinosa «Armillita IV» and Diego Sanchez, who will fight a Santa Fe del Campo bullfight. The price of the tickets in Sombra General will be 600 pesos and in Sol it will cost 400 pesos; children up to eight years of age will be able to enter free accompanied by an adult. Tickets will be on sale at the «Nueva de El Parián» Pharmacy.

Jalpa presents its traditional New Year’s Eve bullfights

The city of Jalpa, Zacatecas, is getting ready for its traditional Regional Fair and therefore announced the posters for the two traditional bullfights, Christmas and New Year’s Day, to be held at the Rodríguez Elías Bullring.   The posters are as follows:   Wednesday, December 25: Livestock La Punta for rejoneador Cuauhtémoc Ayala, the Forcados Amadores of México,  Antonio García “El Chihuahua” and Javier Moreno “Lagartijo”.   Wednesday, January 1: Livestock La Asunción for Juan Pablo Sánchez, Fermín Espinosa “Armillita IV” and Héctor Gutiérrez.
