The Spaniard Borja Ximelis and the tapatío Axel López cut an ear during the promotional novillada held today in the “Alberto Balderas” bullring in Autlán de la Grana, in which Eduardo Neyra was hard working and gave a lap around the ring, throughout an entertaining celebration and with a very good atmosphere in the seats, which were almost full.
A varied and dynamic performance was offered by Ximelis, who came to fight this bullfight in substitution of Javier Cuartero, who has a wrist injury, and the bullfighter born in Palma de Mallorca did not disappoint because he came out to give a show and even overcame a beating suffered when trying to nail the first pair of banderillas, before making a brief faena, due to the late bull, which ended with a magnificent effective thrust for the first ear of the afternoon. In the fourth he tried to please the public in the third of banderillas to give way to a structured faena that came to less at the same time of the steer, which lasted little. Once he placed a cleanly executed volapié, but the puntillero was erratic and once again no ear was awarded.
Axel also showed his most cheerful side in the three thirds of the bullfight with his first bull, which he fought well with the cape and made a “quite” by faroles de pie, which he finished with a long inverted bullfighting move. Then he banderilleó with ease and ignited the enthusiasm of the public, to later make a toned work with a specimen of beautiful workmanship that was noble. He killed with a whole thrust, a little loose and back, and was rewarded with an ear. The sixth was a reserved steer with which he tried to do things well, but was not fine with the sword.
Eduardo Neyra was the least drinkable of the Pepe Garfias bulls and could only show his best in specific passages of his performance, such as the combined “take away” of “caleserinas” with “saltilleras” to the second of the afternoon, which at the beginning was in good condition and then came to less in a work with details of quality by the duranguense, who finished his work with a well executed thrust, but the puntillero lifted it and the possibility of getting an ear vanished. The fifth bull was a very tame bull in the bullring and did not offer Neyra any chance to show off, as he tried to try to get the bull to turn around without good results.
