Galván and Román triumph in Manizales

With an almost full house in the stands was held the second festejo de feeia in Manizales where David Galván and Román shared the exit on shoulders.   Five bulls of Dos Gutiérrez were fought with little presence and game that were protested and a great bull of Ernesto Gutiérrez fought in fifth place that was pardoned.   David Galván showed bullfighting skills and class with the bull that opened the bullfight, which was fought at a medium height and carried slowly until it was tempered. The whole thrust caused the audience to ask for the appendixes, which were granted. With the fourth bull he had no options, it was a bull that did not humiliate and was not humble and was sneaking in the muletazos. Lunge and descabello. Silence.   Román is one of the bullfighters spoiled by the Manizales fans, with the first of his lot he had tempered tandas on both sides and long, by failures with the sword did not get the cut of any prize, he heard palms after warning. The fifth belonging to the Ernesto Gutiérrez brand, was applauded at the start, it showed a good temperament and at the capotero salute its bravery and transmission stood out.   Román was applauded from the beginning to the end and asked for a reprieve, which was granted.   Juan Sebastian Hernandez had the most complicated lot of the afternoon and showed little ability to handle it. The subalterno Ricardo Santana was caught after placing the third pair of banderillas to the third of the afternoon, was taken to a local clinic with mild cranioencephalic concussion and contusions in the thorax. He is stable. Juan Sebastian was silenced in his lot.    Incidents: the pardoned bull was named «Cadenero», number 197 with 460 kilos.

Feria de Manizales 2025

Manuel Libardo pardoned in the first bullfight of Manizales

The 60th Manizales Bullfighting Season began in Colombia with a mixed bullfight where the fans filled three quarters of the bullring despite the intermittent rain and with a great atmosphere.   The Mondoñedo bulls inaugurated the fair with a varied game but with the characteristic fierceness and dangerousness that distinguishes them.   Manuel Libardo was the maximum winner when he pardoned the first bull of his lot, “Greñudo” number 248 of 480 kilos. The bull gave good play on the right side with the hand at medium height, on the left side rebrincando and with a batch of long natural that were worth for the public to ask the judge a pardon that was quickly granted.   With the second bull of his lot, he was not able to round off the faena due to failures with the sword and heard two warnings.   The Venezuelan rejoneador Jose Luis Rodriguez out of place and with a null transmission passed his presentation in this Monumental plaza where the first of his lot that ended boring in the fight could not show his qualities, heard three warnings and gave him death the outstanding, left the ring between roar and whistles of the audience. With the second of his lot he left in silence.     The novillero Luis Miguel Ramirez could not cope with the fierceness of the first of his lot, which was early and did not allow failures, and he was abbreviated and left in silence due to failures with the sword. With the seventh he was able to round off the faena with nuances and technique, verticality, the somewhat defective but effective thrust, which did not need a lace, earned him an ear.   Anderson Sanchez showed desire but little room with his lot, with the first was varied in the crutch but heard three warnings. With the last one, which was given a turn around the ring, he was able to stick batches on both sides with variety to a young bull that came to more and had transmission and bravery, after the thrust he received an ear.   The atmosphere of this fair is expected to increase with the arrival of the international figures that are already in Colombian territory and that augurs for another year, the success of this season.

Puerta Grande for Fonseca in Yuriria

The traditional bullfight with which the year is received annually in Yuriria, Guanajuato, during this 2025 ended under a tremendous downpour, despite which, Isaac Fonseca decided to fight the last bull in a bullring that had become a quagmire, with which he cut his second ear of the celebration and left on shoulders.   Absolute dedication marked the development of this bullfighting event by the bullfighters, but it was Isaac Fonseca’s accurate sword that made the numerical difference, since the public was greatly moved by the work of the bullfighters and even the forcados, and although Paola and Gamero let the Puerta Grande slip away, during their bullfights, both heard shouts of «torera! and «torero», respectively.   Emiliano Gamero opened the bullring and faced a batch of bulls from the El Saucillo ranch, with age and serious character that did not give the desired game, but this rejoneador and his stable put their chest in both bullfights to achieve structured work with spectacular passages in the placement of banderillas that convinced the people, who despite the weather, filled the seats to three quarters of their capacity. Both bulls were sent off at the second trip with the «rejón de muerte». The Forcados de Querétaro accompanied him in each round of the bullring, as they achieved several bullfights, being impressive the one they did with the fourth bull.   Paola San Roman showed her quality and bravery, as she faced a lot of little game from the Marco Garfias ranch. The second bull of the encierro was allowed to be fought at the beginning, but ended up distracted, in spite of which, the matador gave him tandas with feeling and temperament. She was well above the conditions of the fifth bull, which she handled with solvency and got valuable muletazos on both sides. She was not successful with the sword and her valuable work remained without any prize.   Isaac Fonseca before the third and sixth bulls, performed like a cannon with the sword to sign a varied and quality faena to the first of them, which he received with faroles on his knees and chicuelinas to then link series of very tight passes. He cut the first ear of the bullfight. With the bull that closed the bullfight, he risked his life to fight under a torrential downpour in a very slippery arena. He earned another appendix and the exit through the Puerta Grande.     FESTIVAL REPORT   Yuriria, Guanajuato. Bullring La Guadalupana. Three quarters of the audience in a cloudy and cold afternoon, with a heavy downpour during the sixth bull fight. Two bulls of El Saucillo for rejones and four bulls of Marco Garfias for the bullfighters on foot, of little game. corrida de rejones en Tizimín

Fauro Aloi y Guillermo Hermoso rivalizan en Tizimín

A triumphant bullfight was experienced in the Yucatan town of Tizimín, where the audience, which packed the plaza, enjoyed from beginning to end of an exciting celebration thanks to the dedication displayed by Guillermo Hermoso de Mendoza and Fauro Aloi, who competed and came out on shoulders after fighting the bulls of Rancho Seco, which sent an excellent run of bulls.   Spurred on by Hermoso’s triumph with the bull that opened the bullring, to which the Navarrese had cut two ears, Fauro came out to show his face in the second bull, to which he did an intoned performance in which he shone in several passages of the bullfight, although the bull was soon extinguished. He received the Rancho Seco bull riding “Mangérico”, to later take out “Faraón”, with whom he executed two extraordinary quiebros. Then came out “Chato”, with whom he stuck two “banderillas al violín”, and finished the performance with “Máximo”, a horse with whom he placed a short “banderilla corta”. Unfortunately, he made two jabs before the final “rejón de muerte” and gave a lap around the ring. With the tail cut off by Guillermo in the third bull, the afternoon had become uphill for Fauro, but he spared no effort with a beautiful Murube bull that closed the bullring, to which he did a vibrant work that began riding “Mangérico”, to later bring out “Atila” in banderillas and culminate his work nailing a short banderilla on “Máximo”.   The supreme luck was consummated after a jab in the middle, after an effective rejón de muerte, and perhaps this prevented him from being awarded the tail, but he was awarded the two ears and so both riders left the arena on shoulders, amidst the racket of the public who enjoyed a magnificent bullfight. This was Fauro Aloi’s third bullfight in a row in Yucatan bullrings, including his performance at the Monumental Merida on January 1st, as well as the one he fought yesterday in Peto, where he cut two ears. In addition to this afternoon’s triumph, the dynasty horseman began the year with very good omens for the upcoming bullfights on his agenda. The next date is Saturday, February 22 at the “La Luz” bullring in Leon, where he is announced in another bullfight in the company of Jorge Hernandez Garate and Guillermo Hermoso himself, to fight Rancho Seco bulls again.   FESTIVAL FILE   Tizimín, Yucatan. Bullfight of fair, of “rejones”. Full “Sold out” (about 4 thousand 200 people), in a pleasant afternoon.   Rancho Seco bulls, well presented and good in general, of which 1st, 3rd and 4th stood out for their quality.    Guillermo Hermoso de Mendoza: Two ears and two ears and tail.   Fauro Aloi: Turn and two ears after request.    Incidences: The Forcados de Aposento da Moita performed three pegas with a lot of exposure and shared the laps of the ring with the rejoneadores. At the end, the two riders went out on shoulders with the breeder Sergio Hernández Weber.

Fauro Aloi leaves a good taste in his mouth in Mérida

Fauro Aloi put on an intoned performance on January 1st at the Monumental Mérida, where he first had to face the most complicated bull of the Zacatepec bullfight, and then was lucky enough to fight a good bull, run in sixth place, to complete a work from less to more that was appreciated by the Yucatecan fans, who enjoyed the traditional bullfight in which Guillermo Hermoso de Mendoza cut off the only ear.   The third bull of the afternoon, with a deep boxy body and a wide pitons, was not easy because it came a bit crossed and charged in waves. This situation forced Fauro to make use of his resources to nail rejones on “Mangérico” and banderillas with “Faraón”, in a bullfight in which he ended up getting in tune towards the end, when he nailed two banderillas to the violin riding “Atila”, to disentangle the bull’s charge before killing it on the back of “Máximo”, with a couple of deep jabs and three attempts with the sword to decabellar.       Unlike the reserved game of the first bull of his lot, the sixth was noble and had transmission, so Fauro did not miss, almost from the start with “Chato”, to fight with exposure and temper, amid the cheers of the public that encouraged him throughout the fight when he took out “Atila” and “Fuego”. He then stuck banderillas in different areas, adjusting himself in the middle of the ring.   After the extraordinary performance of the Forcados Amadores de Aposento da Moita, who today were at a great level, the bull was much less and it was not easy for Fauro to meet him to kill him riding “Máximo” with the required promptness, so this fact prevented him from cutting an ear, after a work that culminated with the short ones.     Fauro’s next bullfight will be this Thursday, January 2 in the Yucatan bullring of Peto, where he will perform hand in hand with Jorge Hernández Gárate, to fight four bulls from the Golondrinas ranch.   FESTIVAL FILE   Merida, Yucatan. Monumental Plaza. New Year’s Day bullfight. More than three quarters of admission, in a cloudy afternoon with pleasant temperature.    Bulls of Zacatepec, well presented of varied game, of which 2nd. And 4th. 6th. Stood out for their nobility.    Jorge Hernández Gárate: Palmas and ovation. Guillermo Hermoso de Mendoza: Ear and return after request. Fauro Aloi: Palms and ovation.   Incidents: The Forcados Amadores de Aposento da Moita performed four extraordinary pegas, all at the first attempt, and were applauded for a long time. Before breaking ranks in the paseíllo, a minute of applause was paid to the memory of Mafalda Luque, mother of the forcado José Luque, who passed away in the last hours.

Lone Ear for El Chihuahua in Durango

Antonio García “El Chihuahua” cut the only ear this Wednesday in Durango, and became the winner of the New Year’s Day bullfight held in the “Alejandra” bullring, which registered three quarters of the entrance, in a celebration where the trio that completed Fermín Rivera and the novillero Eduardo Neyra, had to overcome an eventful afternoon because one of the bulls got out of the bullring during the bullfight.   In addition to this mishap, the second bull of the bullfight, the first of the El Chihuahua lot, also broke a leg at the start and there was no way to replace it, since the bull that had been planned as a reserve had already been placed as part of the running of the bulls. In this way, Antonio had to wait until the fifth bull of the afternoon as the only card to succeed in this unexpected circumstance.   And to make matters worse, that fifth bull also broke a leg, so there was no other choice but to fight it that way, and Antonio did it with his usual enthusiasm in the three thirds, as he was varied with the cape and also the banderillas, his great specialty, and then made a colorful and cheerful faena that the public chanted in the arena, before pointing a jab and placing a lunge that earned him the cut of the ear that he walked among signs of recognition for his work.   Fermín Rivera came to Durango to fulfill a double commitment as a bullfighter and cattle rancher, and this was the second time in his career that he fought bulls from the family ranch. His bullfighting was structured and had passages of good bullfighting, for which he heard palms after the final thrust after two previous jabs, a fact that dulled his performance also with the fourth bull, after having made an excellent effort in an excellent bullfight.   On the other hand, Neyra, who was fighting in his homeland, showed his commitment and willingness with the two bulls of his lot, to which he made interesting faenas that he could not finish with the sword, so he lost the opportunity to triumph in front of his countrymen.   FESTIVAL REPORT.   Durango, Dgo.- Plaza “Alejandra”. Mixed New Year’s Day bullfight. Three quarters of entrance, in a cool afternoon.   Five bulls of Fermín Rivera, well presented and of varied game, of which the 4th one stood out for its quality.    Fermín Rivera: Ovation and silence after warning. Antonio García “El Chihuahua”: Ear in the only one he killed. The novillero Eduardo Neyra: Palms and palms after warning.
